Where to Stay
Since we are exploring Himeji right after Hiroshima, we decided it would be best to stay the night in Hiroshima. There are good hotels near Hiroshima Station but we wanted to try a traditional Japanese inn. For one night, we stayed at Ryokan Tanada. It's a bit of a walk from the Station but still manageable. It's a bit pricey compared to your usual hotels but still quite cheap compared to othe Ryokans.

Hiroshima
Miyajima
How to get there: From Hiroshima Station, take the train to Miyajimaguchi Station. From there, it is a short walk to the ferry station.
Mount Misen via Miyajima Ropeway
How to get there: The lower station of the Miyajima Ropeway is about 10 minutes walk from Itsukushima Shrine.
A-Dome & Peace Park
How to get there: There are several options. If you are using a JR Pass, go back to Miyajimaguchi Station and then take the train back to Nishi-Hiroshima Station and then transfer to the tram. Alight at Gemabaku-Dome-Mae Station. The A-Dome and the Peace Park are just walking distance from each other.
Himeji Castle
How to get there: From Hiroshima Station, we took the Shinkansen and alighted at Himeji Station. The castle is a long walk from there. Alternatively, you can take the bus or rent a bike.
Himeji Castle is the most fabulous castle I've been in. It's truly a majestic place. Here are some pictures:
